Delivering opening remarks with Mr. Joseph Scheur, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, and Mr. Andreas Berg, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Information and Political Affairs of the European Union Delegation to Cambodia, at the meeting on supporting the universal and effective implementation of the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism (ICSANT).
Please note that this meeting will be held for one day on June 23, 2025, and will be followed by a national workshop on “Basic Training on Radiological and Nuclear Threats” for another four days on June 24-27, 2025.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Secretariat General Dr. Phorn Nara of the National Chemical Weapons Authority, officials from UNOCT-UNCCT, UNODC, UNICRI-EU CBRN CoE, IAEA, and many other Cambodian inter-ministerial officials with the following objectives:
– To increase awareness of the International Convention on the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism (ICSANT)
– To enhance the capacity of experts on the basics of radiological and nuclear threats
– To identify the challenges of radiological and nuclear threats.
The opening ceremony of the meeting was held on Monday, June 13, 2025, corresponding to June 23, 2025, at the Ministry of National Defense, Phnom Penh.
